If you're thinking about reaching out for support, you might be wondering whether coaching or counselling is the right path for you. The truth is, both can be incredibly supportive — they simply support you in different ways.
If you're thinking about reaching out for support, you might be wondering whether coaching or counselling is the right path for you.
It’s a really common question - and an important one.
Because when you’re already feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure of your next step, the last thing you need is more confusion about where to turn.
The truth is, both coaching and counselling can be incredibly supportive. They simply support you in different ways.
And understanding that difference can help you choose what feels right for you right now.
Counselling: making sense of your inner world
Counselling is often a space where you can slow everything down and begin to explore what’s going on beneath the surface.
It can help you make sense of your thoughts, emotions, past experiences, and patterns that may still be affecting you today.
Many people come to counselling when they want to:
Understand their emotional responses
Process difficult or painful experiences
Explore past relationships or childhood experiences
Feel heard, supported, and understood
Make sense of why they feel the way they feel
It’s a space that often focuses on understanding - gently unpacking what has shaped you and how it shows up in your life now.
For many people, this in itself can be deeply supportive and healing.
Coaching: moving forward with support
Coaching tends to focus more on where you are now, and where you want to go next.
It’s less about analysing the past, and more about helping you move forward with clarity, confidence, and direction.
In coaching, we often look at things like:
Confidence and self-belief
Building healthier habits
Overcoming self-doubt and hesitation
Creating structure and accountability
Taking aligned action towards your goals
Strengthening resilience in everyday life
Coaching is about support in movement - helping you bridge the gap between where you are and where you want to be.
The real difference (in simple terms)
If I were to simplify it:
Counselling helps you understand your story.
Coaching helps you create your next chapter.
Both matter.
Both can be powerful.
They just meet you in different places.
What I often see in my work
In my work as a coach and RTT practitioner, I often meet people who have already done a lot of inner work.
They understand themselves very well.
They can explain their patterns clearly.
They’ve spent time reflecting, processing, and gaining insight.
And yet… something still feels stuck.
They find themselves thinking:
“I know why I do this… but I still do it.”
“I understand it logically, but I can’t seem to change it.”
“I’ve talked about this for years, but nothing really shifts.”
This is where coaching and RTT can feel different.
Because sometimes, what’s needed isn’t more understanding - it’s support in creating real, lived change.
My coaching approach
My coaching work is designed for people who are ready to move forward, but want consistent support while they do it.
I work with clients over a minimum of three months because real change takes time, repetition, and support.
We meet weekly for one hour, and during that time we focus on:
What’s been happening in your week
What feels difficult or stuck
What you want to shift or improve
Practical steps you can take forward
Building confidence through action and reflection
Alongside our sessions, you’ll also receive:
Guided meditations to support your mindset
Printable resources and tools
Personalised exercises to support your growth
Ongoing encouragement and accountability
This combination helps you not only understand yourself more deeply but also start creating visible change in your everyday life.
It’s not about being “fixed”
One of the most important things I want you to know is this:
You don’t need to be fixed.
You don’t need to be “more ready” before you begin.
You don’t need to have everything figured out.
Coaching is simply support - for the version of you who is ready to move forward, even if it feels a bit uncertain right now.
If you’re unsure
If you’re sitting there thinking, “I don’t know which one I need”, that’s completely okay.
Most people don’t decide straight away.
It often becomes clearer through conversation, reflection, and understanding what feels right for you as a person.
And whichever path you choose, the most important thing is this:
You don’t have to navigate everything alone.
Support exists.
And change is possible.
